Barbara Bowen, Vice President of Center Development
Bowen has worked in the surgery center industry for over 15-years, and brings a wealth of diverse experience to Sovereign, heading Sovereign’s efforts with regards to center planning and development, as well as obtaining Medicare certifications, state licenses, and accreditation for its centers.
Bowen has consulted with dozens of surgery centers and physician groups over her career, heading the implementation of policies and procedures and other needed protocols to meet the standards of the various certifying bodies (in addition to her work with Sovereign, Bowen is a surveyor for AAAHC). Bowen was also previously the President of Triad Surgery Centers in Arizona, a network of over a dozen outpatient surgery centers (at the time) operating under the ownership of Triad Health System, which was subsequently sold to become Banner Surgery Centers, where she served as the initial CEO. Barbara was also previously Vice President of Operations at ASCOA, and prior to that, held the same position at Aspen Healthcare. Bowen started her career in surgery centers with HealthSouth Corporation where she ended her tenure as Regional Vice President.
Bowen received her BS from the University of Puget Sound, and her Masters of Public Health, Health Services Administration from San Diego State University.
